Puppies often get worms. Experienced dog owners know this. That's why they're regularly dewormed at first. But sometimes, despite multiple deworming treatments, a complete house cleaning, and washing all the dog's things, the diarrhea keeps recurring. Our Monty struggled with it – he kept passing slimy, gel-like stools, sometimes even alarmingly red. With another deworming treatment, a note outlining behavioral guidelines, and the confirmation that he had Giardia, we were sent home from the emergency clinic. Giardia are extremely contagious and very resilient.
All three of our dogs had to go through the treatment again. The whole house was scrubbed, and all the laundry, including the dog beds and sofa covers, was washed. Everything was fine. But two weeks later, Monty was at it again: extreme diarrhea! This time we went to our favorite clinic on Rothenbaumchaussee, where they told us an old "housewife's trick" (what a silly phrase).
An old “housewife trick” against diarrhea

Moro's carrot soup is one of the best home remedies for diarrhea. And it works for humans too!
This homemade carrot soup coats the small intestine from the inside – before or with every meal. Harmful intestinal bacteria like Giardia hate this sugar coating.
The recipe was first published at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1908, the renowned Austrian pediatrician Ernst Moro, then a senior physician at the children's hospital of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, succeeded in drastically reducing the mortality and complication rates of children with diarrheal diseases by administering this carrot soup. Moro prepared the soup according to old home recipes, thereby saving the lives of many children in his area of practice.
The carrot soup recipe
For the Moro's Carrot Soup Only half a kilo of peeled carrots boiled in one liter of water for an extended period, at least 90 minutes. After that Absien will the carrots pureed. Then the soup is topped up to one liter with boiling water and 3 g of salt are added.
One more little tip
Since we feed a raw diet, but raw meat is not helpful at this moment, we cook the meat and add a little bit of it to the soup so that our pets can at least have a little fun eating.
