Boston Bag AIR XL – Dog airline bag in melange fabric
The Boston is the "AIR" for everyone who wants a carry-on bag that doesn't look like a carry-on bag. The exterior is made of a soft, salt-and-pepper melange fabric, like you'd find on a good travel bag; inside, there's a reversible lining – one side is fluffy faux rabbit fur, the other velvety minky, depending on the season and your dog's preference. It's hand-sewn in Hamburg, meets the requirements of most airlines, and weighs 1,180 grams. The gray mesh panel closes completely, as required by airlines, and can be removed after the flight – then the Boston is a bag you can take to a restaurant.
Three details that matter in everyday travel: the waterproof base, the adjustable shoulder straps, and the extra strap with rings that allows the Boston to be attached to a rolling suitcase – so you have both hands free at the gate. New are five rubber feet on the bottom: the bag stands securely and stays clean, even on wet airport floors.

Will your dog fit inside?
The Boston comes in XL – 42 cm interior length, for dogs up to approximately 6.5 kg. In our experience, this is the size that works best for most people: the dog can turn around and lie down comfortably, and the carrier remains cabin-compliant with most airlines. Here's how to check it in a minute: Measure your dog, curled up or lying on its side, from nose to rear end. If it fits comfortably within 42 cm with a little extra room, the Boston will fit.
| Size | Internal dimensions W × L × H | For dogs up to | For example | Weight of the bag |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XL | 23 × 42 × 38 cm | approx. 6.5 kg | Havanese, Bolonka Zwetna, small Pug, sturdy Maltese | 1,180 g |
All bags are sewn by hand; dimensions may vary by up to 2 cm, and weight by ± 50 g.
In the bag guide, we show you which size is suitable for your dog's weight, back length, and resting position.
To the pocket guideFor which airlines and for whom
The Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian, SWISS), Eurowings, and Condor all specify the same maximum dimensions for pets in the cabin: 55 × 40 × 23 cm, a maximum weight of 8 kg for the dog and carrier combined, and the dog must be able to lie down and turn around in the closed carrier. All AIR carrier sizes are built to these dimensions – the EURO fully meets them, while L, XL, and XL-LONG remain below them. TUIfly specifies 55 × 40 × 20 cm, with AIR's 23 cm being three centimeters larger. KLM and Air France (46 × 28 × 24 cm) are too small for AIR. Ultimately, the ground staff decides whether a carrier is allowed on the day of the flight – AIR meets the requirements of most airlines, No airline actually grants a license in the true sense of the word.
